(Rieger Begonia) The SOLENIA® series of Begonias are sure to impress. The compact mounded plants are well-branched and are covered continuously with vibrant double blooms. SOLENIA® Begonias have more wind resistance than other Begonias, keeping them from splitting and breaking. SOLENIA® Apricot has deep green, mildew resistant foliage that sets off the apricot blooms that have shades of yellow and light orange. Growing 8-12″ high and wide, the SOLENIA® Apricot begonia is great for hanging baskets, window boxes, combination containers or landscape borders in full sun to part sun locations. SOLENIA® Begonias are shade tolerant especially in the hottest areas of the country where they will do well with afternoon shade. Water regularly but do not let them get too wet. Applying a water soluble fertilizer once a week will ensure that your plants will look their best all season long.

I get these as hanging baskets from my local nursery every year in April. I’ve noticed by the end of June/beginning of July they start to fade. My plants will have long vine looking things all over it with no flowers bc all of the flowers already bloomed. I wish I could get them to keep producing flowers once all the ones that were bloomed from the nursery fade. This happens every year. I water it when the soil is dry and I use water soluble fertilizer once every 7-10 days. Any suggestions from anyone? Im zone 6B. I keep the hanging under my covered porch so they get sun and shade.

Even a single plant matures into a lovely fountain of large yellow to red orange blooms. I get one every year and it always ends up being my favorite planter. Blooms on my plant have gotten to almost 3 inches wide! Wish I could share pictures! It loves part shade to shade in a lightly sheltered area from the wind.

I ordered four of these begonias along with four white ones to put around my Autumn Maple. They are beautiful. I definitely will be doubling my order next year.
