(Firecracker Bush) Enjoy the long blooming tropical flowers of ESTRELLITA™ Scarlet Bouvardia. The large clusters of trumpet shaped flowers are a deep scarlet red that attract hummingbirds and appear all season long. Standing 1 1/2-2 feet tall and wide, this compact blooming shrub brings color to the landscape all season long. Growing best in full sun, it needs well-drained soil and is heat and drought tolerant in zones 8-10. Blooming off of new growth, any pruning can be done in late winter to early spring if desired. This shrub is a great addition to the landscape as well as a great container plant. The bright blooms also make a great cut flower for indoor enjoyment. ESTRELLITA™ Scarlet Bouvardia is a Proven Winners® Flowering Shrub.

Bought 4. They were well packed for transport. 2 looked like they survived the trip okay enough, with just a couple dead leaves. The other 2 had several dead leaves on them. What was nice was that 2 of them had blooms. So, I was very pleasantly surprised to see that the description of the color of the blooms was accurate. True red. I was half expecting what we all know about red and blue flowers, that they are really pink and purple.
I don’t know if it’s the plants or the zone 10A climate, but, unfortunately, 2 might live, but the other 2 are almost completely dead after just one week in the ground. Planted other plants at the same time and they are fine. One of those were shipped too, and no hint of death in them. Gave 3 stars for decent shipping and true red.
