(Tropical Hibiscus) Bring bold red blooms to your garden with Hollywood Hibiscus™ Hot Shot™. This tropical hibiscus features large, fire-engine red blooms and deep green foliage. It blooms continuously from spring until frost and each bloom stays on the plant for 3 days. Its foliage is evergreen in warmer zones. It is hardy in zones 9-11, but those in colder zones can still grow it as an annual, and bring it indoors for the winter. If you choose to overwinter indoors, make sure it is placed in direct sunlight, and note that it may lose its leaves. The leaves will flush back out again in the spring once it is brought back outdoors. Hollywood Hibiscus™ Hot Shot™ is a great addition to southern foundations, as a specimen plant in the garden, or in containers as an upright thriller. It can reach a height of 60 inches and a width of 48 inches. Plant in areas of the garden that receive full sun. We recommend feeding your hibiscus only once a year in the spring with a continuous-release fertilizer. Tropical hibiscus blooms on new growth, and can be trimmed after it is done blooming for the season. Its blooms attract hummingbirds. However, deer and rabbits will typically leave the plant alone.
