Description

(Buttonbush) SUGAR SHACK® Cephalanthus is an amazing compact button bush. While Buttonbush has often been looked at as a not very exciting shrub, things are about to change! SUGAR SHACK® buttonbush has a compact habit of 4-5 foot creating a nice ball shaped habit. The foliage has an attractive gloss to it that is a nice contrast to the midsummer white blooms. The blooms are heavily fragranced with a sweet scent and in the late summer turn into small red balls of fruit. The new foliage growth is red in color and in the fall the leaves turn to a burgundy color. SUGAR SHACK® gives you a full season of interest and color. Buttonbush prefers to be planted in full sun to part shade, and don't mind if they are in a moist location. A PROVEN WINNERS® COLORCHOICE® Flowering Shrub.

Sugar Shack Button Bush is a hardy bush/small tree with the coolest Sputnik blooms that bring gasps from visitors to the garden. It grows easily in moist soil and wants to live. My issue is it’s difficult to shape and it does spread, popping up in unwelcome spots. Difficult to remove from unwanted spots. Plant where you can allow it to grow and spread in its own form and shape, and you will love the blooms.

I got the qt size and a beautiful large plant came with a beautiful rootball … much bigger than I had imagined in this size pot… so impressed with my whole order of 14 plants! 😍

I received a nice healthy large shrub. Much larger than I anticipated. Can’t wait for it to bloom. Will be perfect where it is planted.

I was drawn to this shrub because of its unusual flowers. They have a sweet fragrance that attracts butterflies.
