'Born To Run' Daylily (Hemerocallis)

(Daylily) Not all daylilies are alike, and 'Born to Run' is one of those 'turn around and look again' flowers! I saw this one before it was named and made a mental note to keep watching it. The vibrant rosy red flower with the heavily ruffled yellow edge is what caught me. When you look at it in the eye you see vibrant yellow that fades to peach and then turns a strong rosy red followed by the beautiful yellow edge. 'Born to Run' Daylily stands 20-22 inches tall and wide. Midsummer is when the blooms first start to put on a show and are followed by a second round of blooms, 'Born to Run' is a great reblooming daylily. Part of the tetraploid family of daylilies, this premium Hemerocallis forms a larger and stronger plant than some of the older diploid varieties. Hardy in zones 3-9, daylilies like to be grown in full sun to part sun locations. They are pretty tolerant of just about any soil type you have to offer. This rabbit resistant perennial is easy to grow both in the landscape as well as in container gardens. Plant in mass or as a specimen, I am sure you will be turning your head.
