Collection: Southern Wax Myrtle - Myrica - Shrubs
Myrica cerifera (Southern Wax Myrtle) is a fast-growing, evergreen shrub prized for its aromatic, glossy green foliage and excellent adaptability. The narrow leaves release a pleasant fragrance when brushed against, and female plants may produce small gray-blue berries that provide winter interest and wildlife value.
Typically growing 10–20 feet tall and wide (and easily maintained smaller with pruning), Southern Wax Myrtle is ideal for screens, hedges, windbreaks, and foundation plantings. It performs best in full sun to part shade and tolerates a wide range of soils, including poor, sandy, and coastal conditions. Once established, it is drought tolerant and low maintenance.
Hardy in USDA Zones 7–11, Southern Wax Myrtle is a dependable choice for gardeners seeking a tough, evergreen shrub with year-round structure and versatility.
