Description

(Bush Cherry) Who says you need a cherry tree to have cherries? Introducing Easy as Pie® Prunus, or commonly called, Bush Cherry. Just as its common name implies, it grows as a shrub yet still produces an abundance of tart red cherries. If you enjoy baking, canning, or snacking on tart cherries, give this Bush Cherry a try! Hardy in zones 3-8, it stands 3-4.5 feet tall and wide. In the spring, beautiful white and pink flowers appear followed by the fruit in the summer. In the fall, the green foliage turns to bright yellow and orange for an extended season of interest. Unlike traditional cherry trees, Easy as Pie® Prunus is resilient to common diseases, and it does not require pollination to produce fruit. Overall, this bush cherry is easy to care for and maintain. Plant in areas that receive full sun exposure (6+ hours every day), and in well-drained soil. Trimming this plant is not recommended, as it blooms on last year's growth, and doing so would sacrifice blooms and fruit. You're sure to see a few pollinators come to visit the flowers in the spring! Easy as Pie® Prunus is a Proven Winners® ColorChoice® Flowering Shrub.
