Description

(Clematis) Piilu Clematis is an excellent compact variety, reaching only 6 feet tall, which makes it very suitable for a small trellis or to climb over a small shrub. The 5 inch soft pink flowers with deeper pink central bars bloom as double flowers in late spring to early summer and then rebloom again in late summer with single flowers of the same color. Yellow anthers make up the center of the flower. These beautiful blooms appear in May and can last through July, and then appear again in September. Plant in full sun to part shade locations. Piilu Clematis is a part of prune group 2 which means the first blooms of the season are on last year’s growth while later blooms are on the new year’s growth. Clematis in this prune group can be trimmed by about a foot every February or March. It can also be trimmed to shape and you’ll want to remove any dead or weak stems. Clematis are a great way to add vertical color and interest to the garden. Try pairing these bright pink blooms with other colors of clematis on the same trellis for a beautiful display! Flower color may vary based on the environment.
