Standing 4-6 feet tall and spreading 2-3 feet wide, the upright columnar habit of SQUEEZE BOX® Inkberry Holly is a great selection for flanking the garage or walkway. Hardier than Japanese Holly, SQUEEZE BOX® features small, glossy green foliage that is evergreen. The MALE pollinator to Gem Box® and Strong Box®, these gals will produce tiny white flowers that turn to black berries later in the summer. This native shrub is fairly compact and deer resistant. Hardy in zones 5-9, Ilex glabra SQUEEZE BOX® Inkberry Holly likes to be planted in full sun to part sun areas. SQUEEZE BOX® does handle shady locations although the color may not be as intense. It grows best in moist, slightly acidic soil. If trimming is desired, we recommend trimming in late spring once the tender new foliage has hardened off.
