Arborvitae (Thuja) Shrubs

Arborvitae shrubs are evergreen, elegant, and hard-working additions to almost any landscape. Their upright, narrow shape makes them a natural choice for windbreaks and privacy hedges. That same shape also makes a striking specimen plant that softens a landscape bed's corners or foundation planting. You can even grow Thuja shrubs in containers, flanking either side of a doorway or garden gate. These evergreens grow best in full sun, though they'll tolerate light shade, and they prefer fertile, moist, well-drained soil. Sizes vary widely, from compact 1-2 foot varieties to towering specimens like Sasquatch™ Dark Green Arborvitae at 20-30 feet tall. That's a broad range, which means there's an arborvitae shrub suited to nearly every garden situation.
