Description

(Clematis) Clematis ‘Kilian Donahue’ is a wonderful cultivar with a multicolor look! This early bloomer opens with ruby red centers, fading out to brilliant fuchsia bars with orchid-colored petal edges. As the 5 inch flowers age, they fade to lavender with pink bars. It almost appears as two different clematis planted together, since the new and older flowers bloom together at the same time. Clematis thrive in full sun to part shade locations. Its flowers like to be in the sun, while its roots like to be kept shaded. Hardy in zones 4-9, it grows 8-10 feet tall and spreads 2 feet wide. It definitely adds a lot of vertical interest to your garden! ‘Kilian Donahue’ is an excellent repeat bloomer throughout the summer months, welcoming pollinators to your garden. When in bloom, it attracts bees, hummingbirds, and butterflies. Clematis are a deer resistant perennial. Clematis ‘Kilian Donahue’ is part of prune Group 2. In the early spring, after it gets its first buds, you’ll want to give it a light trim and also remove any dead or weak stems. This will help keep your clematis healthy so you can enjoy it next season! Please note: flower color may vary due to the environment in which it is grown.
