Sgt. Pepper® Dogwood (Cornus)
- Variegated Foliage,
- Red Stems,
- Transitions In Fall
Description
(Tatarian Dogwood) Do you love the colorful stems of Dogwood, but aren't impressed with the boring green foliage? If so, Sgt. Pepper® Cornus is for you. This Dogwood provides season-long, ever-changing interest starting with spring when the new foliage emerges with green and white variegation with bright pink tones. White flower clusters appear in late spring when the pink color starts to fade leaving the crisp white and green foliage for the summer season. The white margins on the leaves turn bright pink again in late summer to fall, along with the stems that take on a deep red color that will last all winter. Sgt. Pepper® Cornus is hardy in zones 3-7 and grows 4-6 feet high by 6-8 feet wide. Adaptable to many soil types, Sgt. Pepper® Cornus prefers moist, evenly wet soil but can tolerate some dry conditions once established and can be grown in full to part sun. Use in mass plantings, as a hedge, in the cutting garden, or as a foundation plant. Trimming is not required but for the best red stem coloring, it is recommended to prune back a third of the branches to the ground in late winter or early spring. Trimming those branches in the winter allows you to use those stunning red stems in your winter evergreen containers and window boxes! Sgt. Pepper® Cornus is a Proven Winners® ColorChoice® Flowering Shrub.

Reviews
Love the pink edging! Bought two for the back of my new rain garden. Paired them with 3 Perfect Storm rose mallow, Cheyenne Sky ornamental grass, and 3 sugartina Clethra. The burgundy foliage of grass & rose mallow look wonderful with the pink edging of the sgt pepper dogwood. Everything I ordered from Garden Crossings was shipped perfectly (Michigan to CT) and I loved the tracking app so I could follow progress. Will definitely order from Garden Crossings again, plus I love their YouTube videos. Just wished I could visit and see their test gardens in person.
Sounds like a friendly year round addition to the ground.
