'String Theory' Bluestar (Amsonia)
- Great Fall Foliage,
- Large Early Summer Blooms,
- Low Maintenance, Easy Care
Description
(Bluestar) The beautiful blue flowers of Amsonia 'String Theory' are a welcome addition to late spring gardens. Standing 18-22 inches tall and spreading up to 36 inches wide, 'String Theory' forms an upward vase shape mound. In late spring, clusters of light blue flowers form 'puffs' of color atop the bright green, threadleaf foliage. Often we see older amsonia display chlorotic leaves, 'String Theory' holds its bright green color through the summer until fall when it puts on a stunning show of golden orange foliage. Hardy in zones 4-9, it likes to be grown in full sun to part shade locations and can be grown in poor to rich soil conditions once established. The early season blooms are deer resistant and make a great cut flower. Native in North America, it is an easy to grow perennial that has attractive foliage as well as flowers, enjoy planting in mass, as a border, or as a stunning specimen in the garden. Amsonia 'String Theory' is a member of the Proven Winners® Perennial Collection.
