SunMagic® Vintage Lavender Coneflower (Echinacea)
- Long Blooming,
- Excellent Branching,
- Attracts Pollinators
Description
(Coneflower) Soft lavender flowers bring a cooler summer color to Echinacea SUNMAGIC® Vintage Lavender. Large blooms feature lavender pink petals surrounding prominent central cones. The flowers rise clearly above the green foliage on sturdy, upright stems. Blooms begin around mid-June and continue opening into fall.
A naturally compact shape makes this selection easy to use without sacrificing flower power. Strong branching encourages more buds and creates a dense, full appearance. Echinacea SUNMAGIC® Vintage Lavender reaches 18-24 inches tall and spreads 18-24 inches wide. Plant it in full sun with well-drained soil for the strongest growth and flowering.
This North American native perennial grows in zones 4-9. Established Echinacea plants handle warm summer conditions and return after cold winters. Deer generally avoid coneflowers, which can help reduce browsing damage in the landscape.
Summer also brings plenty of activity around the lavender blooms. Bees, bumblebees, and butterflies visit the flowers for nectar throughout their extended flowering period. The strong stems make the blooms useful for fresh-cut arrangements. Snip flowers as they open for bouquets or leave them outside for pollinators. As older blooms mature, their distinctive raised cones continue adding texture among newly opening flowers.
