SunMagic® Vintage Pearl White Coneflower (Echinacea)
- Off White Flower,
- Large Blooms,
- Great Habit
Description
(Coneflower) An abundance of creamy blooms covers Echinacea SUNMAGIC® Vintage Pearl White beginning in early summer. Each flower opens with soft pearl-white petals around a warm, raised center. The blooms stand prominently above the foliage on sturdy stems. Flowering starts around mid-June and continues into fall.
A naturally compact habit keeps Echinacea SUNMAGIC® Vintage Pearl White at 18-24 inches tall and 18-24 inches wide. Excellent branching helps create a full plant with an impressive number of flowers. Give it a location with full sun and well-drained soil. Its smaller stature works especially well near the front of perennial beds or in containers.
Cold winters are no problem for this hardy zone 4-9 perennial. This North American native also handles summer conditions well once its roots become established. Deer generally leave Echinacea alone, making it a useful option for gardens that regularly experience deer activity.
Pollinator activity picks up as the flowers begin opening. Bees, bumblebees, and butterflies visit the blooms for nectar throughout the flowering season. As fall approaches, the centers mature into seed-filled cones. Instead of removing every spent bloom, allow some of these cones to remain on the plant. Birds can visit the mature seed heads as other garden food sources begin to disappear.
