SunMagic® Vintage Red Coneflower (Echinacea)
- Showy Flowers,
- Great Habit,
- Attracts Pollinators
Description
(Coneflower) Strong branching creates an impressive display of red blooms on Echinacea SUNMAGIC® Vintage Red. Numerous buds develop across the compact plant as summer approaches. Large flowers open with rich red petals surrounding raised central cones. Blooming begins around mid-June and continues into fall
At 18-24 inches tall and 18-24 inches wide, this perennial packs plenty of flowers into a manageable size. Echinacea SUNMAGIC® Vintage Red develops a full, mounding habit with sturdy stems that support its blooms. Choose a full sun location with well-drained soil for the best growth and flowering.
This Echinacea grows as a hardy perennial in zones 4-9. Coneflowers are native to North America and adapt well to sunny summer conditions. Deer generally avoid the plants, making them a useful choice where deer frequently browse garden beds.
The red flowers attract bees, bumblebees, and butterflies throughout their extended blooming season. With many flowers opening across the branched stems, pollinators have plenty of blooms to visit. The sturdy stems also make the flowers suitable for fresh-cut arrangements. Snip blooms for bouquets as they begin opening. Later flowers can remain outdoors as summer transitions into fall, extending the nectar supply for visiting pollinators.
