SunMagic® Vintage Ruby Coneflower (Echinacea)
- Attracts Pollinators,
- Excellent Branching,
- Long Bloom Time
Description
(Coneflower) Summer brings months of flowers and plenty of pollinator activity with Echinacea SUNMAGIC® Vintage Ruby. Bees, bumblebees, and butterflies visit the blooms as they open from mid-June into fall. Large flowers display rich ruby-red petals around prominent central cones. Their saturated color stands out clearly above the green foliage.
Strong branching gives Echinacea SUNMAGIC® Vintage Ruby plenty of stems for producing its generous flower display. Plants reach 18-24 inches tall and spread 18-24 inches wide. The compact, mounding habit stays full without becoming oversized. Grow it in full sun and provide well-drained soil for healthy growth.;
This hardy perennial grows in zones 4-9 and handles a wide range of seasonal temperatures. Echinacea is native to North America and adapts well to warm, sunny conditions. Deer generally avoid coneflowers, offering an advantage in landscapes where browsing often damages other flowering perennials.
Ruby-red flowers rise on sturdy stems that also work well for fresh-cut arrangements. You can harvest blooms throughout summer while leaving plenty outside for visiting pollinators. When flowering slows, the central cones begin producing seeds. Allow several mature seed heads to remain through fall. Birds can forage from them while the dried cones add texture above the fading foliage.
