Center Stage® Red Crapemyrtle (Lagerstroemia)
- Disease Resistance
- Black Foliage
- Early Blooms
Description
(Crapemyrtle) Bold cerise blooms and deep black foliage, Center Stage® Red Crapemyrtle will steal the garden show. Standing 6-12 feet tall and spreading up to 8 feet wide, this upright mounding habit shrub likes to be in the garden spotlight. The nearly black foliage has strong branching, and excellent disease resistance, and is adorned with large clusters of cherry red flowers throughout the summer. It blooms off of the new growth so if you feel like it is getting taller than desired, you can trim it back in early spring. Hardy in zones 7-9, this southern plant prefers to be grown in full sun locations and overwatering should be avoided. Easy to grow, Center Stage® Red is a nice selection for mass plantings, a garden specimen or to create a long blooming border. Center Stage® Red Crapemyrtle is a Proven Winners® ColorChoice® Flowering Shrub.
