'Island Breeze' Hosta

(Hosta) ‘Island Breeze’ Hosta is a medium sized Hosta reaching 12 inches tall and 28 inches wide. A sport of ‘Paradise Island’. ‘Island Breeze’ features better variegation and leaf substance. The broad leaves have wide grass green margins with bright yellow centers in the spring. While it typically grows best in part shade to full shade, the centers of the leaves appear chartreuse green with more sun. It’s hardy in zones 3-9, in warmer climates we recommend more shade for your hostas. In mid summer, showy red petioles anchor dark lavender flowers which attract hummingbirds and bees, making it a great pollinator plant. You can also cut their flowers and use them in indoor arrangements. Hostas add texture and color to your shady locations and are best grown in moderate to moist soil. The ‘Island Breeze’ Hosta makes a great border plant, or can be used for mass planting or as a specimen plant.
