'June' Hosta

(Hosta) 'June' Hosta, a lovely sport of Hosta 'Halcyon', displays gold centered leaves with blue-green margins. When grown in full shade the leaf centers are chartreuse-green in color as opposed to bright gold when grown in part shade. Both color combinations are very attractive. 'June' has an excellent substance and is known to be very slug resistant. Its flowers, that appear in the mid to late summer, are light lavender and grow to a 20" height, standing tall above the foliage. The plant itself can reach a maximum height of 15 inches and spread as wide as 20 inches. Hardy in zones 3-9, it grows best in full shade to part shade areas of the garden. When the plant is young, it is recommended to keep it mulched to trap moisture at the roots. Also, do this if planted in a more sunny location. We also recommend trimming off the leaves in the late fall when they start to get slimy. This will help mitigate slugs and keep the plant healthy and ready for next spring’s growth.
