(Spigelia) Here’s a fun looking, native flower for full sun to shade gardens, Spigelia ‘Little Redhead’. The bright red tubular flowers have yellow insides and are held atop the bright green foliage. Standing 24-28 inches tall, this upright perennial can spread up to 24 inches wide. This native perennial can be found in woodlands in the East. Hardy in zones 5b-9, ‘Little Redhead’ likes to be grown in full sun to part shade locations with average to fertile soil, make sure your area has good drainage. This long-blooming perennial has color in late spring through mid-summer. Enjoy the hummingbirds as they visit your garden. Spigelia ‘Little Redhead’ makes a great specimen or planted in mass.
