Description

(Japanese Maple) There is no better selection than METAMORPHOSA™ Japanese Maple to add a beautiful mix of color and texture to the garden. METAMORPHOSA™ is a shrub form of Japanese Maple that can be trained into tree form with pruning. Standing 5-13 feet tall and spreading up to 10 feet wide, METAMORPHOSA™ forms a beautiful canopy of color. Grown from its own rootstock, METAMORPHOSA™ Acer does not send out suckers. We recommend trimming often to create the shape and look you desire. Trimming can be done at any time as the flower set is insignificant. In spring beautiful shades of yellow and pink emerge in the spring and become variegated during the summer. Late in the season, colors of orange and red appear for a real Fall show of color. Hardy in zones 5b-8, plant in full sun to part shade locations for the best coloration. METAMORPHOSA™ Acer is a Proven Winners® Flowering Shrub.

Metamorphosa Japenese Maple

This year, I ordered a gallon “Metamorphosa” for my 6B garden, in my area I have been told that Japenese Maples do not grow well. My intuition says this Japenese Maple is going to prove those people wrong. I planted my Metamorphosa in May and I am already seeing new growth, there was no wilting when I planted. I did amend my clay soil and added Bio-Tone as well. In addition, I planted a little high above soil level to allow for good drainage. I am excited to see if my efforts and my intuition have paid off at the end of the season and of course next year!
