Description

(Spigelia) Add some fiery blooms to your garden with 'Orange Slices' Spigelia! This Spigelia features red and orange blooms that stand atop tall, deep red stems with complimenting green foliage. Spigelia is a highly sought-after native perennial for its unique structure and blooms, as well as its versatility in the garden. Hardy in zones 5b-9, it is easy to grow and can be grown in full sun to part shade locations. Once the blooms are spent, it self-cleans by dropping the blooms to the ground instead of clinging to the stem. Average to consistent watering is recommended, especially when grown in full sun. 'Orange Slices' Spigelia blooms in late spring and lasts long into midsummer. It can grow to about 16-20 inches tall and is about 16-18 inches wide. It keeps a tidy, upright habit. Hummingbirds love the tubular blooms on this plant and are sure to stop by and visit. 'Orange Slices' is slightly shorter than its sibling 'Apple Slices', and its flowers are more orange in color. Plant as a specimen plant in the garden or as part of a mixed border. It pairs excellently with achillea, baptisia, penstemon, sedum, and salvia. 'Orange Slices' Spigelia is a Proven Winners® Perennial.

Between rabbits and deer, nothing left. Waste of money and time.

Hi Elaine, we're sorry to hear about your experience. No, this plant is not listed as deer or rabbit-resistant. We would recommend a product like Plant Skyyd or Bobbix, if someone still wants to try something and has critter pressure.
