Pinky Winky Prime® Panicle Hydrangea

(Panicle Hydrangea) An old time favorite has just gotten better, meet Pinky Winky Prime® Hydrangea. Hydrangeas are like a fine wine, they just keep getting better with time. Pinky Winky Prime® has larger and fuller blooms than its parent. The white pointed blooms, as they age, transition from white to a deeper, richer magenta color. Standing 6-9 feet tall and wide, Pinky Winky Prime® forms a tall, mounding habit. This very cold-tolerant Hydrangea is hardy in zones 3-8 and likes to be grown in full sun to part shade locations. Panicle hydrangeas are adaptable to pretty much any soil condition, including salty areas, as long as it is not overly wet or alkaline. This shrub makes a great specimen in the landscape or plant in mass for a display of midsummer color. Enjoy the cut blooms indoors in a vase on your table. If your flowers start to look dry instead of aging to their rich pink potential, this may be a sign of needing more water or the nighttime temperatures are too warm for the proper transition to occur.
