Rock Steady® Chastetree (Vitex)
- Long blooming,
- Drought & Heat Tolerant,
- Deer Resistant
Description
(Chaste Tree) Vitex Rock Steady® is a long blooming shrub that brings color to your landscape 6-16 weeks longer than other popular Vitex that are currently on the market. With flowers starting to emerge in late spring and lasting until fall, you may find that Rock Steady® is one of the longest-blooming shrubs in your garden. Standing 4- 12 feet tall (in cooler climates it may die back to the ground in the winter limiting how tall it may get) and 4-5 feet wide, this upright columnar shrub not only has beautiful flowers it has unique foliage as well. Starting in early spring, lavender purple flower spikes emerge and are a welcome sight to the early butterflies and pollinators in the garden. Continuing to bloom all summer, Vitex Rock Steady® is never short on color. Hardy in zones 5b - 9, this drought-tolerant shrub likes to be grown in full-sun locations with well-drained soil. Not only does it have beautiful flowers all summer, but it's also a deer-resistant shrub. Planted as a specimen, flowering hedge, or mixed in your flower garden, you will surely love adding Vitex Rock Steady® to your landscape. Blooming on new growth, there is no need to worry if you are in a cooler climate and have some dieback. If needed, pruning can be done in the spring with no worries if it will affect your blooms. Vitex Rock Steady® is a Proven Winners® ColorChoice® Shrub.
