Shadowland® 'Empress Wu' Hosta
- Lavender Purple Flowers,
- Largest Known Hosta,
- Strong Upright Habit
Description
(Hosta) Shadowland® ‘Empress Wu’ Hosta will make your garden guests say wow! It's a huge garden addition that grows 3-4 feet tall and 5-6 feet wide in landscapes and shade gardens. The large dark green leaves of ‘Empress Wu’ measure 18″ with great substance. Its leaves add interesting texture to your landscape with its vertical veins and wide oval shape. The lavender purple flowers, which appear in summer, stand 5′ tall above the foliage throughout midseason. Moist soil and fertilizer will help your ‘Empress Wu’ Hosta reach its mature size. Shadowland® ‘Empress Wu’ Hosta is hardy in zones 3-9 and thrives in part shade to full shade. If you are in a warmer zone, be sure to plant it in more direct shade so it doesn’t get scorched by the hot sun. When it flowers during the summer, you might notice bees and hummingbirds coming around as this is a great pollinator plant. Its dark leaves contrast nicely next to plants with a more yellowish hue, such as the Aralia ‘Sun King’.

I have been wanting to have this hosta for a while now, can't wait to watch it grow.
What fun to see this plant mature...gets more impressive every year.
I have had my Empress Wu for three years and every year it grows bigger and bigger!! Can’t wait to see it reach its full potential!!
Planted three last spring. One didn't do well. It was in too much sun, so I moved it. I cannot wait to see if these live up to the picture.
