Splendid!® Blue Highbush Blueberry (Vaccinium)

(Highbush Blueberry) SPLENDID!® Blue Vaccinium is a first of its kind introduction that combines ornamental landscape qualities with excellent flavored blueberries. SPLENDID!® Blue is a highbush blueberry plant that has a neat mounded growth habit that reaches 3-4 feet high and wide and boasts beautiful blue foliage that complements many plants and home colors. Spring brings white blooms that soon will burst forth into sweet abundant fruit in the summer. SPLENDID!® Blue will set fruit without a pollinator, but produces larger and more plentiful berries with another variety (any native or cultivar warm climate one will do). Hardy in zones 6-9, SPLENDID!® Blue Vaccinium requires full sun and well-drained acidic soil. Pruning is not needed in the first several years, but we recommend after four to six years that you remove the oldest wood each year in early spring.
