Description

(Clematis) The compact, upright mounding habit of Clematis 'Stand by Me' is a great addition for gardens and containers alike. Standing 34-38" tall, 'Stand by Me' is a non clinging vine that can benefit from being supported on a trellis or small cage. The light purple blue flowers appear late May into June. The bell-shaped, downward facing blooms last up to 1 month with an occasional rebloom. The foliage is bright green with bronze undersides, creating a beautiful backdrop to the flowers. When the blooms are finished, beautiful cream seed heads adorn this clematis. 'Stand by Me' Clematis dies back to the ground in the winter, with its new flowers coming from the new growth. Plant 'Stand by Me' in full sun to part shade locations. It prefers to have its roots shaded, which can be done with mulch or coverage from a nearby plant. 'Stand by Me' attracts hummingbirds, butterflies and is bee friendly. Enjoy the beauty of Clematis 'Stand by Me' in your gardens or container designs. Clematis 'Stand by Me', a Proven Winners® Perennial.

Light purple blue flowers were matched with another blue clematis in an obelisk and some black beauty lilies- it all looked great together. Stand by me is a strong climber, but doesn't cling.

Was very happy with the first year performance of this plant. I repurposed a black metal magazine stand for the plant to grow up into. Can't wait to see it return this year!
