SunMagic® Vintage Lipstick Coneflower (Echinacea)
- Compact Size,
- Heavy Bloomer,
- Attracts Pollinators
Description
(Coneflower) Rich, lipstick-red blooms make Echinacea SUNMAGIC® Vintage Lipstick hard to miss when summer arrives. Large flowers feature broad petals surrounding raised central cones. The saturated blooms stand above green foliage on sturdy stems. Flowering begins around mid-June and continues into fall.
Despite its impressive flower display, this perennial maintains a compact size. Echinacea SUNMAGIC® Vintage Lipstick grows 18-24 inches tall and spreads 18-24 inches wide. Strong branching creates a full plant and supports plenty of developing buds. Grow it in full sun and well-drained soil for the best performance.
Bees, bumblebees, and butterflies regularly visit the flowers for nectar during the long blooming season. Echinacea is native to North America and provides valuable resources for garden wildlife. Deer generally avoid coneflowers, making this selection useful where browsing pressure can damage other flowering perennials.
Gardeners in zones 4-9 can grow this cold-hardy perennial year after year. Established plants also handle warm summer conditions well. The sturdy flower stems make the bold red blooms a good choice for fresh-cut arrangements. Harvest flowers as they open to bring some of the summer display indoors. Removing older blooms can also keep plants looking tidy while additional buds continue opening.
