SunMagic® Vintage Mango Coneflower (Echinacea)

(Coneflower) Warm tropical color arrives with the summer blooms of Echinacea SUNMAGIC® Vintage Mango. Mango-orange petals surround prominent central cones, creating large flowers with a rich, sunny appearance. The blooms rise above green foliage on sturdy stems. Flowering starts around mid-June and continues into fall.

Once established, Echinacea SUNMAGIC® Vintage Mango forms a compact, well-branched mound. It reaches 18-24 inches tall and spreads 18-24 inches wide. Excellent branching encourages more flower stems and creates a full appearance throughout the growing season. Give this perennial full sun and well-drained soil for best growth.

This Echinacea grows as a hardy perennial in zones 4-9. Coneflowers are native to North America and thrive through warm summer weather. Deer generally avoid them, making them a practical option for landscapes where deer frequently browse other flowering plants.

The mango-colored blooms also serve as a summer destination for bees, bumblebees, and butterflies. Pollinators can visit the plentiful flowers throughout the plant’s extended blooming period. Strong stems make the flowers suitable for cutting when you want fresh blooms indoors. As fall approaches, finished flowers develop into seed-filled cones. Keep some of these seed heads standing rather than removing them all. Seed-eating birds can forage from the mature cones later in the season.
