Description

(Weigela) WINE &amp, ROSES® Weigela is likely one of the best flowering shrubs on the market today! This award winning Weigela has dark burgundy-purple leaves that resemble the color of a fine wine. The romantic rose-pink flowers complete the ensemble for a lovely display in early summer. As the season progresses the dark foliage color intensifies even more to near black! WINE &amp, ROSES® makes a wonderful specimen plant for the back of the border. Hummingbirds also love the brightly colored flowers! A PROVEN WINNERS® COLORCHOICE® Flowering Shrub.

Wine & Roses does lose its foliage in the fall/ winter. You can trim to shape, but that is best done after it is done flowering. Wine & Roses blooms off of the old-growth, trimming in the fall-spring may result in little to no blooms in the spring. At this point being that it is fall, I would not trim.

We had the Weigela Wine and Roses plated in 8/2019. The shrub foliage died off and we were left with the branches. In the spring I cut back the branches and we did receive new growth, however, we only had sporadic flowering. the stems are growing tall and not as a shrub. We are just coming into our fall, in MO

First Year Beautiful

Wine & Roses. The first year I planted it was beautiful and full. The 2nd year this plant looked spiky and no flowers, but it did get bigger. The deer ate the one I planted outside of the fenced area. NOT DEER RESISTANT!

Absolute Winner

Wine & Roses is truly the perfect mid-sized flowering deciduous shrub. The striking dark wine foliage is only outdone by the profusion of vibrant hot pink flowers. Artful upright rounded shape with low maintenance. Absolute winner!!
