Standing 8-10 feet tall and 6-8 feet wide, Winecraft Black® Smokebush starts off with glossy, reddish black foliage in the spring and it darkens to a deep purple black as the summer progresses. In the summer large plumes of smoke or burgundy airy flowers appear nestled nicely above the dark foliage. Winecraft Black® has excellent branching, creating a fuller and more showy shrub. In the fall a third season of color, the foliage turns a crisp orange for extended beauty. Planted in full sun, Smokebush blooms off of old growth so trimming is not recommended unless you need to shape your plant. Cotinus Winecraft Black® is a deer resistant shrub.
