Black Eyed Susan (Rudbeckia) Perennials

Black eyed susan is one of summer's most reliable and beloved perennials. Rudbeckia earns that reputation bloom by bloom. These golden-yellow, daisy-like flowers with dark centers light up borders and wildflower gardens from midsummer through fall. They also look especially spectacular planted in masses. Because these perennials bloom for such an extended period, you get weeks of cheerful color. And it all happens with very little effort.

Rudbeckia thrives in full sun and well-drained soil and needs very little fussing once established. The long-lasting blooms make excellent cut flowers, and butterflies find them irresistible. Deer, however, tend to leave them alone. So you can enjoy the show all season without worrying about unwanted visitors. Plant black eyed susan once and enjoy it for years to come.
